After qualifying from the Institute of Culinary Arts at the Spier Campus Samantha Kelly researched the need for a European-syle coffee shop that served creative, honest food & locally-roasted coffee in the Helderberg region.
Café culture is on the increase and the need for a coffee shop offering superb coffee and healthy delicious meals in the heart of the Somerset West business district was identified. Kelfords Ford is one of the most progressive dealerships in the Western Cape and jumped at the opportunity at having an in-house coffee shop in its showroom that could service its customers and bring new feet through the doors. This formed a perfect synergy for both businesses and a relationship was formed.
Brew Cafe obtained the häzz franchise and opened shop in August 2013 and after 3-months the orders from business in the area streamed in. This created a need for an assistant and Grace (who lives up to her name in every way) joined in November and together Brew serves 250 cups to satisfied customers per week.
Brew Cafe works with a supply of seasonal ingredients that are locally sourced and readily available. They focus on giving their customers what they want, simple food that’s packed with incredible flavour. The tasty menu includes all-day breakfasts, gourmet wraps and salads, freshly baked sweets and savouries, warming & hearty soups, freshly pressed fruit juices, smoothies and not to forget the flagship barista brewed häzz coffee.
Brews' success can be attributed to the following, "I like to think that together we make a formidable team, Grace loves the sweet, I love the savoury and we both love the sound of coffee beans grinding" - SAM KELLY, OWNER
